Today we were picked up at the hotel and brought to the jetty for island hopping. We started at the Awana jetty. We had a wonderful guide Vinvin who made a memorable day.
We first headed to Pulau Dayang Bunting island to the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden. The lake was formed by the collapse of an ancient cave. The waters here are believed to aid with pregnancy by simply drinking the water (someone in the group is hoping the earlier mandarin throwing and pregnancy-inducing swim will prove fruitful in 2020). It was a beautiful location surrounded by the jungle clad limestone mountains and cliffs.

After a good amount of time we hiked back from the lake to the boat and then headed to Palau Sungen Besat island. We stopped in a bay surrounded by mangroves, where the boat captain threw chicken bits into the water and we witnessed both white breasted and brown hawks feeding while circling our boat. It was pretty spectacular.
We then sped over to Pulau Beres Basah island to swim in the Andaman Sea on a white sand beach. It was heaven!
To note, our guide mentioned how quiet touring has been the last few weeks. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, and the robust Chinese tourism, there have been fewer visitors. Sounds strange, but it is lucky for us, and a stark illustration of how intense the global Chinese tourism business is.
Once back on the main island of Langkawi we headed back to the hotel salt coated looking forward to resting. However, we knew cheese and bread were in our future, so we suited up and went for a run before enjoying happy hour and dinner.
Now we are relaxing in the hotel bar having a martini and planning our onward journey to Siem Reap and Cambodia tomorrow.
Note: Internet access has been super slow and so videos which are better than pictures will have to wait until a later time.
