This morning we woke up in paradise (Langkawi) before 7:00am, which meant we were a bit out of it for the day. Which is funny, since I (Patrick speaking) normally wake up at 5:00 am back home.
What’s even more funny, are the comedy of errors we each made all day while our brains misfired. I’ll attempt to tell some of the stories, but really, you had to be there.
Our hotel insisted on getting us to the airport two hours early, which we were grateful for because our airline had an hour-long check in line. For those that know Auntie, you won’t be surprised by the visual of him trying to pack his bag with his travel itinerary, only to pitch his boarding passes into the air, which was followed by him flailing his arms wildly as they floated to the ground, yelling “oh, oh, oh” as he grasped for them. (Such an exaggeration!)
We arrived on time into Siem Reap with a typical confusing visa process that I remember when I was here 18 years ago. Grumpy military awaited at passport and visa control to clear us and afterwards the lovely Cambodian hospitality and friendliness awaited. Auntie is so happy to be back!
We were greeted at the airport and transferred to the hotel my a vintage Mercedes. Once at the hotel (where we want to move and never come home) we quickly settled in and headed out.
We wandered a bit and then found the old market. After Patrick dropped a minuscule sum for some goods in the market (and might I say a successful negotiator) we looked for a place for a drink.
It’s Valentines Day, so of course the streets were covered in love.

Oh wait!, we can get a foot massage! For $6!Heaven! Slippery walk home with some errors in a mini mart.
